Joyce Austin, PMHNP- BC

Joyce Austin, PMHNP-MSN, is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who approaches mental health from a holistic perspective. She integrates principles of functional medicine and utilizes motivational interviewing techniques and brief solution-focused therapy to assist individuals in achieving their mental health and wellness objectives. With a deep appreciation for diversity and multiculturalism, Joyce, being a person of color herself, incorporates a multicultural viewpoint into her beliefs and clinical practice.


Joyce obtained her nursing degrees from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, and earned her master's degree from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her exceptional dedication and proficiency have garnered her various awards and honors. Notably, she is a proud member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.


Throughout her career, Joyce has worked extensively with individuals affected by acute and chronic physical and mental health conditions at all stages of life. Presently, she is actively engaged in a role within an inpatient psychiatric mental health unit, where she specializes in evaluating and treating adults experiencing mental health crises. Her expertise extends to developing comprehensive treatment plans for various conditions, including depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse. In formulating treatment strategies, Joyce strictly adheres to evidence-based materials endorsed by the American Psychological Association, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and exclusively prescribes FDA-approved medications.
